Contact Lenses Are Medical Devices — Your Eyes Matter

Colored contact lenses — including non-prescription (plano) lenses — are regulated medical devices in the United States and many countries worldwide. Wearing lenses without proper eye care guidance can lead to serious eye health risks.

We strongly encourage all customers to consult a licensed eye care professional before purchasing contact lenses, and to maintain a current, valid prescription.

Submit Your Prescription (Optional)

You may optionally submit your prescription information below for your own records. This helps ensure you order the correct power for your lenses.

Submitting your prescription is voluntary. By completing your purchase, you confirm that you have consulted or will consult a licensed eye care professional, and that you are purchasing based on your own informed decision.

How to Read Your Prescription

RX Sphere (SPH) Cylinder (CYL) Axis Prism
OD (Right Eye) -2.50 -0.75 180
OS (Left Eye) -3.00 -1.00 180

SPH (Sphere): The correction power needed. A minus (−) sign means nearsighted (myopia); a plus (+) means farsighted. We carry lenses that correct myopia only.

CYL (Cylinder) & Axis: These relate to astigmatism. If blank, you don't need astigmatism correction. Cylinder and Axis always appear together.

OD / OS / OU: Latin abbreviations for right eye, left eye, and both eyes respectively.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I purchase contacts without a prescription in the US?

Under US law, contact lenses — including cosmetic/non-prescription lenses — require a valid prescription from a licensed eye care professional. We recommend obtaining one before purchasing.

Q: Do I need a prescription for non-corrective (plano) lenses?

Yes. Even lenses with no vision correction are classified as medical devices and require a prescription under US regulations. We advise consulting your eye doctor.

Q: How often should I get an eye exam?

We recommend an eye exam at least every two years to ensure your prescription is current and to monitor overall eye health.
